Engineering Courses – Interactive Learning Resource, LMS, and Networking Platform

The Engineering Courses project is one of my most technically advanced builds to date — a complete interactive learner resource website, Learning Management System (LMS), and internal networking tool built using WordPress, LearnDash, and BuddyBoss. Designed for engineering training providers, the platform supports structured online learning, professional collaboration, and company-level reporting in a secure and fully branded environment.

Each company using the system has access to its own customised, password-protected area, allowing learners and tutors to share content, track progress, and interact through discussion threads. These areas feature company branding, bespoke dashboards, and resource libraries tailored to each organisation’s needs.

The platform also integrates interactive course delivery, automated progress tracking, and assessment feedback through LearnDash. Combined with BuddyBoss, it offers a built-in social network where users can communicate, post updates, and collaborate within their company’s private space.

A major focus was data privacy and scalability, ensuring that each company’s materials and learner data remain isolated and secure while still benefiting from shared hosting infrastructure. Reporting tools were built in to allow training managers to monitor engagement and outcomes efficiently.

The largest organisation currently using this platform is Network Rail Apprenticeships, demonstrating the site’s capability to handle large-scale learning environments with hundreds of concurrent users.

This project represents a strong example of how open-source tools can be adapted for professional learning and internal communication — combining accessibility, functionality, and security within a single integrated system.
