We were back at David Lloyd Rugby to provide DJ services for their members’ summer day, this time setting up poolside and helping create a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere throughout the event.

With members enjoying the pool, outdoor areas and summer activities, the music needed to feel lively without taking over. I played a mix of Afro house, tribal house, club classics and modern remixes, with tracks and edits from producers including Dr Packer, Sgt. Slick, Jet Boot Jack and Paul Dekeyne.

The aim was to keep the energy moving throughout the day, giving the event a proper summer feel while still working as background music for members who were swimming, relaxing, eating or simply passing through.

Getting Involved with the Kids’ Splash

As well as providing the music, I also supported the kids’ splash session. Suitable tracks were played to match the activity, while a wireless microphone was supplied so the team could make announcements and get everyone involved without needing to shout across the pool area.

That flexibility is an important part of the service. Sometimes the DJ needs to lead the atmosphere, while at other moments the role is simply to support what is already happening.

More Than Just a Poolside DJ

The day also included a BBQ, face painting and the usual David Lloyd activities, so there was plenty going on around the club.

Our job was to help tie everything together with music, sound and a bit of extra energy. From chilled summer house through to familiar club classics, the soundtrack helped give the event its own identity and added to the overall vibe without distracting from the activities themselves.
