Overview
WD82 Ltd was booked to complete the annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT/EET testing) at St Peters School in Kettering. This is the second consecutive year that we have carried out the school’s electrical appliance testing, providing continuity and a dependable record of appliance safety.
Annual PAT/EET testing helps the school meet its electrical safety responsibilities while protecting pupils, employees, contractors and visitors. It also allows damaged or potentially unsafe equipment to be identified before it causes an incident.
PAT Testing in a School Environment
St Peters School is committed to maintaining a safe learning and working environment. With electrical equipment used throughout classrooms, offices, kitchens, staff areas and maintenance facilities, regular in-service inspection and testing forms an important part of the school’s health and safety arrangements.
Our technicians systematically inspected and tested the school’s portable electrical appliances. This included formal visual inspections alongside the appropriate electrical tests, based on the equipment type and class.
The work was organised efficiently across several days to minimise disruption to lessons and normal school activities. Equipment was recorded consistently, with inaccessible, missing or unavailable appliances identified rather than silently omitted from the register.
Fully Insured and Enhanced DBS-Checked
WD82 Ltd is fully insured through Tradesaver for this type of work. In addition, our team members have enhanced DBS checks as standard, providing schools and other education clients with additional reassurance about the people working on their premises.
This combination of appropriate insurance, experienced technicians and enhanced DBS checking makes WD82 well suited to completing PAT/EET testing in schools, colleges, nurseries and other sensitive environments.
QR Code Labels and Live Asset Management
For the school’s second year of testing, we introduced QR code labels linked to our new PAT/EET testing and asset management platform.
Each appliance now has an individual digital asset record showing its full in-service inspection and testing history. Scanning the QR code provides a direct link to the relevant appliance record, creating a clearer audit trail than relying on a conventional dated sticker alone.
The live asset register acts as the school’s single source of truth. Authorised clients can add appliances when new equipment is brought into service, record interim checks and remove assets when equipment is disposed of. This helps keep the register accurate throughout the year rather than only updating it during the annual testing visit.
The system is also available as our PAT/EET Manager WordPress Plugin.
Additional WD82 Services
Alongside Portable Appliance Testing, WD82 Ltd provides practical services for schools, businesses and other organisations. These include Hoover and Vacuum Cleaner Service and Repair and Commercial Kitchen Deep Cleaning.
By combining competent PAT/EET testing with QR code identification and live asset management, WD82 provides more than a yearly testing visit. We help clients maintain a usable, accurate and accessible electrical appliance record throughout the year.
